Thai massage is already world famous. The massage style here in Chiang Mai is a little different from that in Bangkok and the south.
Traditional Thai massage is a form of healing with Buddhism roots. It has influences from the Indian Ayurveda and also Chinese practices. It was traditionally taught and practiced in the temples.
Thai massage involves working the pressure points along ten key energy lines. This will “open up” the lines and allow energy to flow freely. The benefits of Thai massage are: joint mobility and flexibility increase, circulation improvement, general increase in energy, and muscular and emotional stress relief
It is hard to choose from the bunch of simple and budget massage shops to luxurious spas. At the low end massage shops, you can still get a very good massage. The quality of the massage you get can depend very much on luck though. You can be assigned an experienced and skilled massage therapist, or a novice. Mind you, age does not equal experience.
