Nimmanhemin Soi 5
This unassuming restaurant serves some of the most delicious Thai food in town. It is actually located between Soi 5 and Soi 7 Nimmanhemin Road, at the small junction of the sois. There’s a nice outdoor dining area with tables under big shady trees.
I’ve not tried all the items on the “Recommended” menu. But I loved every one of those that I’ve tried so far.
1. Gai Tord Nam Pla, Fried chicken wings in fish sauce (60 baht)
The best gai tord nam pla I’ve ever had!
2. Moo joom, Isan style hot pot with pork or beef (85 baht)
Lots of vegetables and meat of your choice that you can cook in the hot pot broth. The broth here is savoury, sweet and fragrant. And it’s not spicy at all. The portion is more than enough for 2 persons. Great value for money.
3. Rice in pot with mushroom and pork (60 baht)
Rice in sauce cooked together with mushrooms, prawns, sausages, ginger and others in a clay pot.
4. Rice with deep fried chicken and curry (60 baht)
Plain rice with deep fried chicken cutlet with Japanese curry sauce. Yummy.
This is a nice place to have a beer too. They keep their beers in a fridge at sub-zero temperatures. So you get to enjoy your beer super cold, at the first sip anyway. They also serve beer in chilled beer mugs. Brands of beer: Tiger, Heineken and maybe 1 or 2 others that I can’t remember. Would you prefer a photo of a beer or a beer promoter? I thought so.
